Pistorius heads to U.S. with Ukraine support on agenda

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius is traveling to the United States on July 14 for a two-day visit during which support for Ukraine will be a key topic of discussion.

As reported by Ukrinform, citing DW, Pistorius is scheduled to meet with United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth in Washington.

The Ministry stated that during the meeting, support for Ukraine in countering Russia’s war of aggression will be discussed, including the supply of air defense systems.

The Ministry added that the purpose of the trip is to ensure direct and personal coordination with Hegseth.

This marks Pistorius’s first visit to Washington since Donald Trump took office as U.S. president, DW notes.

As reported by Ukrinform, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will also be in Washington on July 14–15. He is expected to meet with President Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and members of Congress.
