Russia has likely sustained approximately 236,000 casualties (killed and wounded) in the Russia-Ukraine conflict so far in 2025, and 1,022,460 casualties since launching the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The UK Ministry of Defense said this in an intelligence update on Ukraine published on X, Ukrinform reports.

Citing figures from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, analysts noted that the average daily Russian casualties during June 2025 was approximately 1,080, and totaled 32,000 over the course of the month.

"Russian casualty rates have moderately decreased month on month since March 2025, with June's average daily rate the lowest reported since April 2024," the UK intelligence update said.

According to the Ministry of Defense, previous years of the war have seen some moderate decreases in Russian casualty rates with the onset of summer, with improving weather likely contributing to increasing casualty survivability.

"The moderate decreases in Russian casualty rates have occurred at the same time as Russian attacks across the frontline have continued at a high level and Russia has made steady advances in the Donbas," the update said.

Total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to July 11, 2025, amounted to approximately 1,031,620 personnel, with 1,040 killed or wounded on July 10.
