Border breach in Kharkiv region: Ukrainian troops repel Russian infantry attack

In Kharkiv region, Russian invading forces have stepped up activity near the settlement of Milove, crossing the Ukrainian state border.

This was announced on live television by Pavlo Shamshyn, Spokesperson for the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“Yesterday, Russian forces became active near the village of Milove, located northeast of the town of Velykyi Burluk. Enemy infantry crossed the border and attacked our positions with support from artillery and drones,” Shamshyn said.

According to Shamshyn, the invaders attempted to advance toward the village of Ambarne but were halted.

“Then the enemy shifted direction toward the village of Khatnie, but they were stopped there as well. Currently, Ukrainian Defense Forces have stabilized the situation in that sector, and no further enemy advances are occurring,” he confirmed.

Ukrainian troops report a notable increase in Russian assault operations.

“The situation remains difficult. Just in the past 24 hours, Russian forces launched 19 assaults at Ukrainian positions. On Sunday, there were 24 assaults – a significant number. For comparison, a month ago the daily average was only five to seven attacks. It shows a clear escalation in Russian activity,” Shamshyn said.

He also noted continued enemy pressure near Vovchansk, where Russian troops are trying to push the Ukrainian defenders out of the industrial plant on the northern bank of the Vovcha River.

“They’re attacking even at night... One or two soldiers in anti-thermal cloaks persistently try to infiltrate the plant every night. Clearly, their command is instructing them to gain a foothold there. They hide in ruins or basements, but our aerial reconnaissance usually detects these hideouts — and often, they become mass graves for the Russians,” Shamshyn added.

He noted that while the enemy has failed to gain success in that direction, logistics on the northern bank of the Vovcha River remain difficult due to the heavy presence of enemy reconnaissance and strike drones.

As reported by Ukrinform, on July 7 alone, there were 188 combat engagements between Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders across the frontline.
