
Ukrainian forces strike oil refinery in Russia's Saratov region – General Staff
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced this on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
"As part of efforts to reduce the enemy's offensive capabilities, units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, struck the Saratovorgsintez oil refinery in Russia's Saratov region," the statement reads.
The refinery's capacity is used by Russian forces to provide fuel and lubricants for military units involved in the war against Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, direct hits were confirmed, including damage to technological installations. A fire broke out at the facility. The extent of the damage is still being assessed.
"The Defense Forces continue to take measures aimed at undermining the military and economic potential of the Russian occupiers and forcing Russia to end its armed aggression against Ukraine," the statement said.
Ukrainian forces also confirmed a strike on the Kupol plant in Izhevsk, which specializes in the production of short-range air defense missile systems. Precise hits were recorded on Building No. 1 at Site No. 1, resulting in a fire.
