Nighttime explosions in Crimea suggest hits on Russian air defenses

Explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Crimea overnight on July 1st, possibly targeting S-300/S-400 air defense systems and radar stations on the Kerch Peninsula.

This was reported by the Telegram channel Krymsky Veter (Crimean Wind), according to Ukrinform.

"Between 00:20 and 00:50, explosions were heard in Kerch and Feodosia," the message states.

It is noted that on the Kerch Peninsula, the S-300/S-400 air defense systems and radar stations may have been hit.

"South of the village of Kurortne in the Leninsky district, on the Sea of Azov, NASA satellites recorded a large fire during the night. There is an S-300/S-400 air defense position there – we previously received photos from a subscriber. The image shows launchers and target illumination radars 30N6E or 92N6E. Also, near Kurortne, there is a rare radar station 'Kasta-2E2,' which we previously posted video of," reported the Krymsky Veter monitoring group.

According to the Telegram channel, during a Ukrainian missile strike, one of the missiles may have hit the airfield in Dzhankoy.

"There are no details or confirmation, so as of now, this is just a version," the media outlet added.

It was also reported that about nine Ukrainian fighter jets were attacking Crimea with Storm Shadow missiles.
