Nearly 300 rescuers responding to aftermath of Russian attack in Kyiv

In the capital, efforts continue to deal with the aftermath of Tuesday’s massive Russian attack, with 296 rescuers and 75 units of equipment from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) involved in the operation.

This was reported on Facebook by the press service of the Kyiv Emergency Service, according to Ukrinform.

"All emergency services of the city are working on site: rescuing people, extinguishing fires, clearing rubble, and assisting the injured. Specifically, 296 rescuers, 75 units of SES equipment, three canine teams, and two SES helicopters have been deployed," the statement reads.

According to the SES, multiple residential buildings were destroyed, civilian infrastructure was damaged, and fires broke out in several districts of the city.

In the Solomianskyi district, a missile strike on a 9-story residential building completely destroyed one entrance section. There is a risk of structural collapse. Eight cars were destroyed and four others caught fire in the courtyard. A five-story building and a car service station were also on fire.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district, a residential high-rise and another city building were on fire.

In the Darnytskyi district, falling debris caused a fire, damaged a building, and blew out windows at a children’s facility. The upper floors of a residential building were partially destroyed.

In the Dniprovskyi and Obolonskyi districts, residential buildings and vehicles were damaged.

As Ukrinform previously reported, overnight on June 17, 27 locations in Kyiv were hit during a combined Russian attack. According to preliminary data, 14 people were killed and 114 injured.
