Three rescuers killed, nine injured during emergency response in Kyiv following Russian attack
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"Last night, missiles and drones deliberately targeted civilian and critical infrastructure. Emergency services — SES and police — responded to every call for help. Sadly, we have suffered more losses in the Interior Ministry family," Klymenko said.
According to him, three SES rescuers were killed in Kyiv while carrying out their duties under fire, risking their lives to help others. Nine more emergency workers were wounded — some seriously — and doctors are fighting to save them.
Additionally, five rescuers were injured while extinguishing a fire in the Ternopil region. All are receiving medical care.
"A deep bow to our fallen heroes — unarmed, courageous, loyal to their oath, and devoted to their life-saving mission. Wishing a swift recovery to the injured," Klymenko added.
Overall, three people were killed and around 40 were injured across Ukraine during last night's Russian attacks.
The State Emergency Service published the names of the firefighters-rescuers killed on June 6 in Kyiv: Pavlo Yezhor, Danylo Skadin, and Andrii Remennyi.
"Today we grieve. The big SES family mourns. These are not just losses — they are wounds that will hurt for a long time, tears that have yet to dry, and an emptiness that can never be filled," the SES said in a statement.
Earlier reports said that 20 people were injured and four killed in Kyiv as a result of the massive overnight attack on June 6.
