Operation Spiderweb: Satellite images show destruction of Russian bombers at Irkutsk airbase
The corresponding images were published by RFE/RL on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"Analysis of video footage and satellite imagery has allowed RFE/RL to independently confirm the destruction of at least 11 Russian strategic bombers as part of the SBU's Operation Spiderweb on June 1, 2025," the post reads.
Among the destroyed aircraft are seven Tu-95 bombers (one of which is believed to be damaged), four Tu-22M3 bombers, as well as one An-12 transport aircraft, which is not part of Russia's strategic aviation fleet.
"At Belaya airbase, the destruction of four Tu-22s and three Tu-95s has been verified. One additional Tu-95 is likely damaged," RFE/RL added.
On June 1, the SBU conducted a unique special operation dubbed "Spiderweb," striking four Russian airbases deep behind enemy lines.
After verifying additional intelligence from various sources, Ukraine's General Staff confirmed that Russian forces lost 41 military aircraft, including strategic bombers and other combat aircraft.
