Russian assault units 80–100% manned despite heavy losses – military spox
Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, said this during a television broadcast, as reported by Ukrinform.
“Their assault units are manned from 100% to at least 80%. This means that despite huge losses — 120–150 personnel lost per day on our fronts, along with 50–60 pieces of equipment and weaponry — they continue their assaults,” Voloshyn stated.
According to him, Russians are training a number of assault troops at training grounds located in the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, as well as in Crimea. These areas host assault groups that are later deployed in small infantry units for attacks.
“In large-scale assaults, the enemy suffers massive casualties. That’s why they’ve chosen to maintain constant pressure and a high pace of assaults along our lines, using small infantry groups with light motorized equipment,” he explained.
He noted that each Russian assault company now has up to 30–35 motorcycles as standard, allowing for rapid and maneuverable movement on the battlefield.
Voloshyn added that on the southern front, Russia is effectively using nearly all available troops as infantry.
As previously reported, Voloshyn also stated that in the Novopavlivka sector of the front, Russian forces are regrouping in order to increase the number of assaults.
