Several Russian airports temporarily shut down due to drone attacks

In the morning of May 27, several airports in Russia imposed temporary flight restrictions following drone attacks.

This was reported by the BBC Russian Service, according to Ukrinform.

Temporary flight restrictions were introduced at the airports of Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, and Tambov. Earlier, during the night, Rosaviatsia (Russia’s aviation authority) also announced restrictions at Kaluga Airport.

Authorities in Samara, Voronezh, and Tula regions, as well as in Lipetsk, reported aerial threats due to drone activity.

The governor of Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev, stated that air defense systems had shot down several drones in the suburbs of Voronezh and in the southern part of the region. "According to preliminary information, there are no casualties or damage," he wrote on Telegram.

In total, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that air defenses shot down 99 drones on Monday evening and during the night: 56 UAVs over Belgorod region, 25 UAVs over Voronezh region, seven UAVs over Vladimir region, five UAVs over Kaluga region, four UAVs over Tula region, one UAV over Rostov region, and one UAV over Lipetsk region.

As Ukrinform previously reported, 170 combat engagements occurred on the frontline on May 26, with the most intense fighting observed in the Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka sectors.
