Zelensky: Intelligence shows Russia has no plans to end war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Putin and his inner circle have no intention of ending the full-scale war against Ukraine, and this assessment is likely shared by the intelligence services of Ukraine's partner countries as well.

He made this statement in his nightly video address, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I held a meeting of the Staff [of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief] today. There were intelligence briefings — very detailed. We discussed the overall situation: the war and Russia's intentions, the capabilities of Russian forces and their military-industrial complex, as well as our own ability to put pressure on Russia and disrupt its plans," Zelensky said.

He stressed that according to open sources and classified intelligence, Putin and his entourage are not considering ending the war.

"There is currently no evidence that they are seriously considering peace or diplomacy. On the contrary, there is plenty of evidence suggesting they are preparing new offensive operations. Russia is counting on a prolonged war. This is a blatant show of disregard for all those in the world who seek peace and are working to make diplomacy effective," Zelensky said.

He also noted that the intelligence services of Ukraine's international partners are seeing the same picture.

"I'm confident […] that they see this too — and it's crucial that they don't look the other way, and that they report these facts to their leadership. What's needed now is complete honesty and coordinated pressure on Russia," Zelensky said.

During a recent overnight attack, Russia launched nearly 300 drones against Ukraine — an indication that the enemy is increasing both the production and use of UAVs.
