War update: 84 clashes on frontline since day-start, most intense fighting in Pokrovsk sector
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, in an update released at 16:00, Monday, May 19, according to Ukrinform.
Russian forces shelled with artillery and mortars the settlements of Porozok, Slavhorod, Vasylivka, Bilokopytove, Bila Bereza, Myropilske, Mariine, and Rudak in Sumy region, and Karpovychi in Chernihiv region.
In the Kharkiv sector, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions twice near Vovchansk and Kutkivka. One engagement is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, no offensive actions by Russian forces have been reported today.
In the Lyman sector, 13 Russian attacks have been recorded near Yampolivka, Zelena Dolyna, Torske, and toward Hlushchenkove, Karpivka, Serebrianka, Yampil, Hryhorivka, Ridkodub, and Olhivka. Three battles are still ongoing.
In the Siversk sector, Russian forces carried out three attacks near Verkhniokamianske, Bilohorivka, and toward Hryhorivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, four engagements have occurred since the beginning of the day near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, and Kurdiumivka. One fight is still ongoing.
In the Toretsk sector, Russian troops attempted to break through Ukrainian defenses near Toretsk, Novospaske, and toward Dyliivka. Ukrainian defenders repelled two assaults; three other clashes are ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, Russian forces carried out 26 assaults attempting to displace Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Myroliubivka, Yelyzavetivka, Lysivka, Udachne, Novoserhiivka, Troitske, Kotliarivka, and Andriivka, and toward Zoria, Novoukrainka, Stara Mykolaivka, Shevchenko Pershe, and Nova Poltavka. 20 attacks have already been repelled, while six battles are still ongoing.
In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 11 enemy assaults. Russian forces attempted to advance near Kostiantynopil, Pryvilne, Rivnopil, and Vilne Pole, as well as toward Novopil and Zelene Pole.
In the Huliaipole sector, Russian aircraft carried out strikes on Huliaipole and Malynivka.
In the Orikhiv sector, four enemy attacks occurred near Mala Tokmachka and around Stepove. The settlement of Stepnohirsk suffered airstrikes.
In the Prydniprovske sector, Russian troops attempted to advance once, unsuccessfully.
In the Kursk sector, Ukrainian defenders have repelled two enemy assaults today. Russian aircraft dropped 17 guided bombs.
No significant changes were observed in other sectors.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russian troops are attempting to expand their foothold on the right bank of the Oskil River near Stroivka in Kupiansk sector.
