
One killed, one injured in Russian airstrike on village in Sumy region
The regional prosecutor's office reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"On the evening of May 8, 2025, the enemy dropped, according to preliminary data, eight guided aerial bombs on the Richky community of the Sumy district. Only in the morning of May 9 was the body of a 63-year-old woman found on the grounds of one of the homesteads," the post said.
Prosecutors and law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of the attack.

The Sumy District Prosecutor's Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the commission of war crimes resulting in a civilian death (Part 2, Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to Kordon.Media, citing the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Mykhailo Melnyk, a man was also injured in the airstrike. A local school and storage facilities belonging to an agricultural enterprise were damaged.


The head of the Richky community, Mykola Solodovnyk, clarified that the injured man was a security guard at a local business who was on night duty. In addition to the school and warehouses, about ten private homes and the village council building were also damaged.
Russian forces carried out 80 attacks on the Sumy region between the morning of May 8 and the morning of May 9.
