War update: 147 clashes on frontline in Ukraine over past day
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted this update as of 8:00 on March 23 on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.
Yesterday, Russians launched 89 airstrikes targeting Ukrainian positions and settlements and dropped 122 guided aerial bombs. Also, the enemy conducted 6,689 shelling attacks including 146 from MLRS and deployed approximately 2,800 kamikaze drones.
Russian airstrikes targeted the settlements of Krasnopillia, Turya, Mykhailivka, Uhroyidy, Petrushivka in Sumy region, Yelyzavetivka, Serhiivka, Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, Novodarivka, Malynivka, Zaliznychne, Komyshuvakha in Kherson region, Olhivka in Zaporizhzhia region.
On March 22, Ukrainian aviation, rocket forces, and artillery struck 17 clusters of enemy personnel, weapons, and equipment, one artillery system, two air defense systems, one electronic warfare system, two drone command posts, and another key enemy target.
In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy attempted four assaults near Vovchansk, but was repelled.
In the Kupiansk sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled four attacks near Zahryzove and toward Petropavlivka.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy carried out 21 assaults aimed at breaking Ukrainian defenses near Nadiya, Dibrova, Kolodiazi, Yampolivka, Torske, and towards Nove and Novomykhailivka.
In the Siversk sector, three Russian attempts to advance near Bilohorivka and Spirne were repelled.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces conducted one unsuccessful attack west of Andriivka.
In the Toretsk sector, 22 enemy attacks occurred near Krymske, Dyliivka, Druzhba, Toretsk, and towards Shcherbynivka.
In the Pokrovsk sector, the Ukrainian defenders halted 44 Russian assault actions near Panteleimonivka, Kalynove, Vodiane Druhe, Yelyzavetivka, Novoukrainka, Zelene Pole, Lysivka, Udachne, Kotlyne, Uspenivka, Kotliarivka, Andriivka, Novoandriivka, and toward Pokrovsk.
In the Novopavlivka sector, the enemy carried out 17 assaults near Kostiantynopil and Rozlyv.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces attempted two assaults near Shcherbaky and Novodanylivka.
In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of Russian offensive group formations were spotted.
In the Huliaipole and Prydniprovske sectors, no active Russian offensive actions were reported.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue operations in Russia’s Kursk region. Over the past day, Russians conducted 19 airstrikes dropping 28 guided bombs and 357 shelling attacks including 11 from MLRS. Ukrainian forces repelled 25 Russian assault actions.
As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of the Russian military from February 24, 2022, to March 23, 2025, are approximately 903,480 personnel, including 1,470 over the past day alone.
