War update: 155 clashes on frontline over past day, Pokrovsk sector remains hottest spot

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook, sharing operational information as of 8:00 on Thursday, March 20, as cited by Ukrinform.

The Russian forces launched one missile strike and 72 airstrikes on Ukrainian territory, fired one missile and dropped 123 guided aerial bombs, deployed 2,560 kamikaze drones and conducted 6,000 artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.

Russian airstrikes targeted the settlements of Hremiach and Mykolaivka in Chernihiv region, Krasnopillia, Mykhailivske, Khmelivka, Samotoivka, Myropillia, Turia, Mala Rybytsia, Petrushivka in Sumy region, Zoria, Nova Poltavka, Hrodivka, Pokrovsk, Zelene Pole in Donetsk region, Velykomykhailivka in Dnipropetrovsk region, Yasna Poliana, Blakytne, Novoivanivka in Zaporizhzhia region, Burhunka, Virivka, Kherson, Tomarine, Odradokamianka in Kherson region.

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck 10 clusters of enemy personnel and equipment, four command posts, two air defense systems, 10 artillery units, two electronic warfare stations, and one additional important target.

In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to advance five times near Vovchansk and Dvorichna.

In the Kupiansk sector, six enemy assaults were repelled near Zahryzove and Petropavlivka.

In the Lyman sector, the Russians launched 15 attacks trying to advance near Yampolivka, Nove, Novomykhailivka, and Zelena Dolyna.

In the Siversk sector, one enemy attack was repelled near Verkhniokamianske.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russians carried out four assaults near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Minkivka, and Novomarkove.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy conducted 21 attacks near Krymske, Toretsk, Dachne, and Dyliivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian forces stopped 47 assaults near Tarasivka, Yelyzavetivka, Promin, Lysivka, Novoukrainka, Kotlyne, Zvirove, Udachne, Uspenivka, Preobrazhenka, Oleksiivka, Valentynivka, Andriivka, and Serhiivka.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks near Pryvilne, Rozlyv, Burlatske, and Kostiantynopil.

In the Huliaipole sector, three assaults were stopped near Novopil.

In the Orikhiv sector, Ukrainian forces repelled seven attacks near Stepove, Lobkove, and Shcherbaky.

In the Prydniprovske sector, no offensive actions by the enemy were reported.

In Russia's Kursk region, Ukrainian forces repelled 22 enemy attacks over the past day. The enemy launched 23 airstrikes, using 28 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 333 artillery strikes, including 12 from MLRS systems.

There were no signs of enemy offensive formations detected in the Volyn and Polissia sectors.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict significant losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, actively weakening their offensive potential.

As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian forces in manpower from February 24, 2022, to March 20, 2025, amount to approximately 899,470 personnel, with 1,400 Russian troops eliminated over the past day alone.
