Drones attack Russia again, causing fires at multiple industrial sites

On the night of March 12-13, drone attacks sparked fires at two sites in Russia's Voronezh and Rostov regions.

That's according to local authorities, Ukrinform reports, citing BBC News Russian.

The governor of Voronezh, Alexander Gusev, confirmed a fire at an infrastructure facility, which has since been extinguished with no reported casualties. The Telegram channel Baza, citing local residents, claimed that drones targeted gas infrastructure.

In the Rostov region, acting governor Yury Slyusar reported that a drone strike caused a fire at an industrial site in the village of Kalininsky, Sholokhovsky district.

According to the Telegram channel Astra, in the Kaluga region, governor Vladislav Shapsha stated that a drone strike caused a fire at a technical facility in the Dzerzhinsky district, which was later put out.

In the Saratov region, governor Roman Busargin confirmed damage to non-residential buildings in the Petrovsky district due to drone attacks.

Air travel was also affected, with flights suspended twice overnight at Saratov Airport. Takeoffs and landings were also canceled in Penza and Volgograd.

Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed its air defenses intercepted and destroyed 77 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions, including 30 drones over Bryansk, 25 drones over Kaluga, six drones each over Kursk and Voronezh, and five drones each over Rostov and Belgorod.

Meanwhile, Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, noted in a Telegram post that the Saratov region is a crucial hub in Russia's gas transport system. The region is also home to the Saratov Oil Refinery, which processes approximately seven million tonnes of oil per year, producing aviation fuel, diesel, and lubricants used by Russian military equipment.

Earlier, on the night of March 10-11, Russia's Ministry of Defense claimed it had repelled a massive drone attack, stating that 337 drones were intercepted across the country.
