CinC Syrskyi: Situation on Sumy-Kursk border under full control of Ukrainian forces
He stated this during his visit to the operational zone of the Kursk Group of Forces, Ukrinform reports.
"I am currently working in the operational zone of the Kursk Group of Forces. The situation along the Sumy-Kursk border remains under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Several settlements along the border, which Russian propaganda frequently mentions, no longer exist -- they have been completely destroyed by the aggressor's firepower," Syrskyi said.
Despite Russia deploying a significant number of troops, including North Korean infantry, their forces are sustaining heavy losses in both manpower and equipment, he said.
"In just four days of fighting near Plekhovo, the enemy has lost nearly an entire battalion of infantry," Syrskyi said.
According to him, enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs) and small infantry units attempting to infiltrate Ukrainian territory are being neutralized by Ukrainian firepower, thanks to a well-prepared defensive system.
"I have made decisions on the ground to strengthen our forces with additional resources, including electronic warfare (EW) systems and drones. Currently, there is no threat of our units being encircled in the Kursk region. Ukrainian troops are maneuvering effectively to maintain strong defensive positions," Syrskyi said.
Ukraine's State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko earlier stated that Russian forces were trying to secure a foothold near the village of Novenke in the Sumy region in an effort to disrupt Ukrainian supply routes.
