Ukraine continues to receive aid from the U.S. - Shmyhal

Ukrinform
As of the evening of March 3, aid from the United States continued to arrive in Ukraine.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this at a press conference on Tusday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“According to the information from the Minister of Defense, aid from the U.S. continues to flow, all the aid that was laid down in packages during the previous U.S. administration was coming to Ukraine, and as of yesterday night I had no information that anything was stopped. All the packages were coming in, and as of yesterday evening we were receiving all the aid, and as of this morning I have not yet heard an update from the Minister of Defense whether there were any changes,” Shmyhal said, adding that he would have been informed of those.

In response to the question of whether the government is preparing for a possible cessation of arms supplies by the United States, Shmyhal said that Ukraine is firmly determined to continue cooperation with the United States, which has been a reliable partner for years.

“We are working and doing everything to provide our Armed Forces with everything they need. But I will start answering your question with words of gratitude to our partners – the United States of America, the American nation, which has really supported and continues to support Ukraine with everything it needs for three years: money, sanctions, weapons, political support. Today, Ukraine has this support, it continues. Regarding the discussion on the possibility of termination, we will absolutely calmly continue to work calmly with the United States of America, with the Congress of the United States of America, with the Administration of President Trump, with President Trump, through all available and accessible diplomatic channels, so that Ukraine and the United States continue our fight for a just, lasting, and stable peace in Ukraine, on the European continent. And today Ukraine is absolutely determined to continue cooperation with the United States of America,” Shmyhal said.

He expressed confidence that support from the United States as a world leader, one of Ukraine’s largest partners, will continue.

Shmyhal added that the government is exploring opportunities for economic cooperation, in particular by concluding an agreement on the joint creation of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

He also recalled that the Cabinet of Ministers continues to work with European partners, thanked all EU countries for their unwavering support over the past three years, and reported on active communication on the issue of weapons production.

“We are working on attracting funds for Ukrainian production. I would like to emphasize that Ukraine already produces more than 30% of the weapons, equipment, and ammunition necessary for its defense on its own. The target is 50%. We are actively developing. I am sure that this year we will achieve this goal,” the head of government noted.

Shmyhal emphasized that Ukraine has support from European countries, from the G7, but “of course, the United States is an important military, financial, and political partner of Ukraine and it is important to maintain this partnership.”

“It is important to find ways, and we are actively working on this now, to work together to achieve peace. Ukraine, more than anyone else, wants a fair and solid peace guaranteed by security for our state, for the European continent,” Shmyhal emphasized.

Earlier, media reports, citing a high-ranking official in the U.S. Department of Defense, claimed Donald Trump ordered to put on pause all military aid to Ukraine.

At the same time, no official confirmation of the suspension of U.S. aid was announced by the White House.
