Ukrainian forces down 138 Russian drones, 119 disappear from radar

Ukraine's Defense Forces have shot down 138 Russian Shahed-type attack UAVs and other drones, while 119 others have been lost from tracking.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Telegram by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The report states that starting 19:00 on Saturday, February 22, the Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using 267 Shahed-type attack UAVs and other drone decoys from various directions, including Oryol, Bryansk, Kursk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Chauda in Crimea. Additionally, three Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles were launched from Crimea.

The aerial assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

By 08:00 on Sunday, February 23, as many as 138 Shahed-type attack drones and other UAVs had been confirmed shot down in Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Rivne, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

"Some 119 enemy drone decoys disappeared from radar (without negative consequences), with three flying toward Belarus and one toward Russia," the Air Force stated.

The report also notes that the enemy attack caused damage in Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Poltava, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, air raid alerts were declared in several regions due to the attack by enemy strike drones.
