Zelensky signs law extending martial law in Ukraine until May 9

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed laws extending martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine until May 9, 2025.

That's according to the parliament's website, Ukrinform reports.

The legislative acts "On the Approval of the Presidential Decree on Extending Martial Law in Ukraine" (No. 12404) and "On the Approval of the Presidential Decree on Extending the Period of General Mobilization" (No. 12405) were returned with the president's signature.

The duration of martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine has been extended for another 90 days from February 8, 2025, until May 9, 2025.

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. On the same day, martial law was imposed in the country, and general mobilization was declared until March 26.

Since then, the Ukrainian parliament has extended the duration of martial law and mobilization 13 times.

On January 15, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law approving the president's decree to extend martial law in Ukraine from February 8 for another 90 days, until May 9, 2025.
