War update: 79 combat clashes along frontlines in Ukraine

During the past 24 hours, Ukraine recorded 79 combat engagements in the zones of hostilities.

That’s according to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.

“In total, the enemy launched three missile attacks and eight airstrikes, employing the Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones, as well as 82 rocket salvos, on the positions of our troops and at populated areas. As a result of Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population. Private houses and apartment blocks, as well as other civil infrastructure, were either damaged or destroyed,” the report reads.

More than 100 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Volyn and Polissia axes: no significant changes.

Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions: the enemy maintains its military presence in the areas close to the border, engaging in active sabotage activities in order to prevent the maneuvers of Ukrainian troops.

Kupiansk area: Ukraine repelled seven attacks near Synkivka and Tabaivka, Kharkiv region, and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region.

Lyman area, Ukraine repelled 11 attacks near Terny, Yampolivka, and Torske in Donetsk region, and near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.

Bakhmut axis: Ukraine repelled seven attacks in the areas of Ivanivske and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region.

Avdiivka direction: Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the enemy advance as the Russians keep trying to besiege Avdiivka. The Ukrainian soldiers firmly hold their defense lines, inflicting significant losses on the invasion force. Over the past day, the Defense Forces have repelled 11 enemy attacks near Stepove and Avdiivka, and another 17 – near Tonenke, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske, Donetsk region.

Mariinka direction: Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold back the enemy near Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, where 14 attacks were repelled.

Shakhtarske direction: Ukraine repelled three attacks south of Zolota Nyva and west of Staromaiorske, Donetsk region.

Zaporizhzhia direction: Ukraine repelled an enemy attack west of Verbove, Zaporizhzhia region.

Kherson axis: Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to expand the existing bridgehead. Despite significant losses, the enemy does not stop trying to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions. The Russians undertook two unsuccessful assault efforts.

At the same time, Ukraine’s forces continue to actively inflict losses on Russia’s invasion troops in terms of manpower and military hardware, exhausting the enemy along the entire front line.

During the day, Ukraine’s Air Force hit four enemy manpower and weapons clusters, while missile forces destroyed a Russian artillery system and two ammunition depots.

As reported earlier, the Ministry of Defense and the National Institute of Strategic Studies signed off a cooperation memorandum to address the pressing issues facing the Armed Forces and other elements of Ukraine’s defense forces.
