Death toll in Russia’s Jan 23 missile attack on Kharkiv grows to 11

A woman who was injured in Russia’s January 23 missile attack on Kharkiv city died in hospital, bringing the total number of those killed to 11.

The Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"Despite doctors’ efforts, a 61-year-old woman died in hospital last night. As of now, the death toll from the enemy missile attack on Kharkiv has risen to 11 people," the statement reads.

As reported, on January 23, around 04:00 and 07:00, the Russian army launched missile attacks on Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts of Kharkiv. Ten people were killed, including a child, and more than 70 people were injured.

Around 22:00, Russian troops hit the center of Kharkiv and its Kholodnohirskyi district with missiles, injuring nine people, including a 4-year-old child.

The three waves of attacks damaged 226 residential buildings, including 45 private buildings and 28 non-residential buildings.

January 25 was declared a day of mourning in the city.
