The girl's mother, whose body was pulled out in fragments from the rubble in Kharkiv after a Russian missile strike, also died, and her father was freed from the rubble alive.

This was reported by the spokesman for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, Dmytro Chubenko, in a comment to Ukrinform.

"The last girl found dead under the rubble was an 8-year-old girl. Her mother was taken out of the rubble at 17:30. She was found dead. She was 35 years old," he said.

It is also known that the girl's father is alive. According to Kharkiv Mayor Terekhov, the man was trapped by a slab when he was unblocked, and told rescuers that his wife and daughter were also under the rubble.

As reported by Ukrinform, at least 8 explosions were heard in Kharkiv around 7:15. The entrance of a five-story residential building was completely destroyed. Some neighborhoods lost power.

As of 8 p.m. on January 23, eight people were killed and 62 wounded.
