War update: Ukrainian forces repel almost 40 attacks in six sectors

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its evening update published on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.

According to the update, Russian invaders are not abandoning their intention to drive Ukrainian forces out of their bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro.

"During the day, the enemy carried out nine unsuccessful assaults, but Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold their ground and inflict significant losses on the enemy," the update said.

In total, 55 combat clashes took place on the front during the day, according to the General Staff. Units of the Ukrainian rocket forces hit two enemy ammunition depots.

Throughout the day, Russian invaders launched 55 missile strikes, 16 air strikes and 16 attacks using multiple rocket launchers against the positions of Ukrainian forces and Ukrainian cities and villages.

Enemy attacks caused civilian deaths and injuries as well as destruction and damage to private homes, apartment buildings, and other civilian infrastructure.

The operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult.

The situation in the Volyn and Polissia sectors remains largely unchanged, with no signs of the formation of the enemy's offensive groups.

Designated units of the Belarusian Armed Forces continue to perform tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna sectors, the enemy maintains its military presence in the border areas, conducting subversive activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to dangerous areas and increasing the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

Russian troops shelled about 30 settlements with artillery and mortars in the two sectors, including Zarichchia, Muraveinyk, and Hremiach in the Chernihiv region, Fotovyzh, Tovstodubove, and Zapsillia in the Sumy region, as well as Vesele, Bochkove, and Budarky in the Kharkiv region.

On the Kupiansk axis, Ukraine's defense forces repelled five enemy attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region. In this sector, the Russians unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position.

The invaders launched air strikes on Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, Tabaivka, Pishchane and Berestove in the Kharkiv region. About ten settlements were attacked by the Russian army with artillery and mortar fire, including Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka and Berestove in the Kharkiv region.

On the Lyman axis, Ukrainian defenders repelled an enemy attack east of Terny, Donetsk region. More than ten settlements came under Russian mortar and artillery fire, including Nevske and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, Torske, Verkhniokamianske and Spirne in the Donetsk region.

An enemy air strike was recorded in the Novoselivka area of the Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian forces repelled two attacks by Russian troops near Klishchiivka and Andriivka, Donetsk region. More than ten settlements, including Vasiukivka, Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiivka, Andriivka and New York of the Donetsk region, came under the artillery and mortar fire of the invaders.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks outside Avdiivka, Sieverne and Tonenke and 14 attacks near Pervomaiske and Nevelske, Donetsk region.

About 15 settlements were struck by Russian mortar and artillery fire in the Avdiivka sector, including Novokalynove, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Vodiane and Pervomaiske of the Donetsk region.

Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back Russian troops in the Marinka sector near Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region. The Russian army unsuccessfully tried to break through Ukrainian defenses seven times there.

The invaders directed artillery and mortar fire at Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maksymilianivka, Marinka, Novomykhailivka, and Kostiantynivka.

The Russians did not conduct offensive operations in the Shakhtarske sector. Instead, they fired artillery and mortars at towns and villages. More than ten settlements came under enemy fire, including Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Urozhaine and Staromaiorske of the Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, Ukrainian forces repelled six enemy attacks south of Krasne, west of Verbove, and north of Novoprokopivka of the Zaporizhzhia region. In this sector, the Russian army tried to improve its tactical position.

More than 15 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region were hit by Russian mortars and artillery, including Levadne, Malynivka, Huliaipole, Piatykhatky, and Kamianske.

In the Kherson sector, Russian artillery struck Kherson, Zmiivka, Krynky, Tiahynka, and Ivanivka in the Kherson region, as well as Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region.
