The Ukrainian military downed 25 out of 63 Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missiles, which had been fired by Russian troops since the full-scale invasion started.

The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Sixty-three Kinzhal missiles have been fired since the full-scale invasion started, and 25 of them have been destroyed. Last spring we obtained the Patriot [surface-to-air missile] systems and the ability to destroy air-launched ballistic missiles,” Ihnat told.

He neither confirmed nor denied that it was Russia’s Kinzhal missile that had been downed over the Dnipro River in the city of Kyiv. According to Ihnat, it is impossible to determine the type of the missile on the video.

A reminder that, on the night of January 2, 2024, Russia launched a massive air attack on Ukraine’s territory, involving different types of air assault weapons. In particular, the enemy fired 10 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic air-launched ballistic missiles. All of them were intercepted by Ukraine’s air defense units.
