Defense forces advancing in south, holding back enemy in east

This is stated in the report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 18:00 on August 29 published on Facebook.

The Defense Forces of Ukraine continue the offensive operation in Melitopol direction. The defenders gain a foothold on the reached boundaries and carry out counter-battery fight.

During the day, Ukraine’s aviation launched 11 strikes on Russian invaders: seven – on personnel clusters, four – on anti-aircraft missile systems.

Missile and artillery units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit an enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment cluster, as well as a TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system.

During the day, the Russian invaders launched five missile strikes, 47 air strikes, and 48 MLRS attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian troops and populated settlements.

As a result of enemy attacks, civilians were killed and injured; residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure objects were destroyed.

In Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

In Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, Russian troops attacked Udy and Zybyne areas in Kharkiv region from the air. Mortars and artillery were fired at more than 20 settlements, including Seredyna-Buda, Popivka, Kindrativka, Volodymyrivka in Sumy region; Ohirtseve, Karayichne, Okhrimivka, Mala Vovcha, Nesterne in Kharkiv region.

In Kupyansk direction, the Russians launched airstrikes in the areas of Pershotravneve, Kyslivka, and Kupyansk in Kharkiv region. Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Kurylivka, Kyslivka, Kotliarivka in Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In Lyman direction, the invaders carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Novoyehorivka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region. Artillery was fired at more than 10 settlements, in particular, Novoyehorivka in Luhansk region; Yampil, Siversk, Verkhniokamyanske, Torske, and Spirne in Donetsk region. The enemy launched airstrikes in the areas of Nadiya, Tverdokhlibove, Novoyehorivka, and Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Spirne in Donetsk region.

In Bakhmut direction, the Russian army carried out unsuccessful offensive operations near Bohdanivka and Ozarianivka in Donetsk region. Airstrikes were launched in the areas of Klishchiyivka, Druzhba, Pivdenne in Donetsk region. More than 25 settlements came under enemy artillery fire, including Hryhorivka, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka, Druzhba in Donetsk region.

In Avdiyivka direction, Russian aircraft struck the areas of Avdiyivka. Keramik, Novokalynove, Stepove, Avdiyivka, Sieverne, and Pervomayske in Donetsk region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In Maryinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops near Maryinka in Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Krasnohorivka and Maryinka. Artillery strikes were launched on Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Heorhiyivka, Kurakhove, Pobieda, and Yelyzavetivka in Donetsk region.

In Shakhtarske direction, Russian aircraft struck Staromayorske area in Donetsk region. Vuhledar, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Velyka Novosilka, Blahodatne, and Urozhayne in Donetsk region came under enemy artillery fire.

In Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russian army launched airstrikes in the areas of Zaliznychne and Verbove in Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements came under enemy artillery fire on the indicated section of the front, including Shcherbaky, Stepove, Pyatykhatky, Kamyanske, Plavni, Lukyanivske in Zaporizhzhia region.

In Kherson direction, more than 10 settlements came under enemy artillery fire, including Zolota Balka, Mykilske, Sadove, Kherson, Sofiyivka, Shyroka Balka in Kherson region.

In the temporarily captured territories of Kherson region, the Russians continue the forced passportization of the local population.
