Ukrainian forces hold initiative in Bakhmut sector – military spox

In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to hold the initiative and have eliminated 43 invaders.

Serhii Cherevatyi, the spokesman for the Eastern Grouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, said this on the air of the United News telethon, Ukrinform reports.

“In the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold the initiative, repelling the enemy, The enemy is desperately mounting resistance, using artillery. In the past day, the enemy hit our positions with all types of artillery 514 times. There were two air raids, as well as nine combat clashes during which 43 occupiers were eliminated, 109 were wounded, and one was captured," Cherevatyi said.

He added that one Mandat electronic warfare station was destroyed, which is a priority target for Ukrainian defenders in order to prevent the Russian army from developing its electronic warfare system. Three field ammunition depots were also destroyed, Cherevatyi added.

As reported, the Defense Forces of Ukraine from February 24, 2022 to August 13, 2023 eliminated about 253,850 Russian invaders, including 560 occupiers over the past day alone.
