War update: Thirty-four combat clashes recorded, Ukrainian offensive ongoing in two directions
That’s according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrinform reports.
"Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, entrenched themselves on the regained lines and engaging in counterbattery fire. In total, 34 combat clashes took place along the front in the past day," the report says.
Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched five missile and 61 air strikes and 70 strikes involving MLR systems targeting the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. As a result of the Russian terrorist attacks, unfortunately, a number of civilians were killed and wounded, residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure objects were destroyed.
It is highly likely that Russia will be launching more missile and air strikes on the entire territory of Ukraine.
On the Volyn and Polissia axes, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna axes, Russian airstrikes hit the areas of Stepne, Kostiantynivka, Popivka, and Oleksandrivka of Sumy region. Mortar and artillery strikes targeted over 25 settlements, including Kliusy, Yelina, Bleshnia, and Karpovychi in Chernihiv region; Zarichia, Popivka, Timofiivka, and Stukalyvka in Sumy region; and Uda, Huryiv Kozachok, Odnorobivka, Strelecha, Okhrimivka, and Stroivka in Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the Russians went on the offensive, achieving no gains in the Nadiia district and south of Novoselivske, Luhansk region. More than 15 settlements, including Kamianka, Ridkodub, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kindrashivka, Holubivka, Kupiansk, and Kislivka of Kharkiv region, were hit by enemy artillery and mortar fire.
In the Lyman direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Makiivka, Nevske, and Bilohorivka of Luhansk region, and Novomykhailivka of Donetsk region. The settlements of Nevske and Bilohorivka of Luhansk region and Torske, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka of Donetsk region were hit by enemy artillery.
In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the Bohdanivka area, Donetsk region. More than 15 settlements, including Vasiukivka, Orihovo-Vasylivka, Markove, Bohdanivka, Chasiv Yar, Predtechyne, and New York in Donetsk region, were affected by enemy artillery fire.
In the Avdiivka direction, under heavy fire from the Russian aircraft and artillery, Ukraine’s defenders continue to hold back the advance of enemy troops. A Russian airstrike targeted the area of Severne in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Oleksandropil, Ocheretyne, Novokalynove, Novoselivka Persha, Avdiivka, and Severene in Donetsk region, were hit by Russian artillery.
In the Marinka direction, the defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops. More than 10 settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Hostre, Heorhiivka, Paraskoviivka, and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk region, were hit by artillery.
On the Shakhtarske axis, the enemy made unsuccessful attempts to regain the lost position in the Staromaiorske district of Donetsk region. An airstrike targeted the said area. In addition, Vodiane, Vuhledar, Bohoyavlenka, Prechystivka, Zolota Nyva, Velyka Novosilka, and Blahodatne of Donetsk region came under Russian artillery fire.
In the direction of Zaporizhzhia, the enemy carried out an air strike in the area of Mala Tokmachka. More than 15 settlements were subjected to artillery shelling, including Olhivske, Chervone, Huliaipole, Pyatykhatky, Kamianske, and Plavni in Zaporizhzhia region and Nikopol in Dnipropetrovsk region.
In Kherson direction, the enemy launched an airstrike in the Kozatske area. Over 20 settlements, including Zolota Balka, Respublikanets, Chervonyi Maiak, Shliakhove, Lvove, Kozatske, Antonivka, and Veletenske in Kherson region and the city of Kherson, as well as Kutsurub, Ochakiv, and Dmytrivka in Mykolaiv region, were hit by enemy artillery.
Ukraine’s Air Force 10 times hit Russian manpower and equipment clusters and twice targeted Russia’s anti-aircraft missile systems. Also, our defenders destroyed seven attack UAVs of the Shaked-136 type.
Over the past 24 hours, missile and artillery forces have destroyed four Russian artillery systems in firing positions, two manpower and weapons clusters, two e-warfare systems, and a communications center.
