No Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups are being spotted on the border with Belarus, but they operate on the borders with the Russian Federation in Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

That’s according to the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, who spoke at the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"We see that the enemy is trying to deploy sabotage and recon groups, especially on the border with the aggressor country directly. If we talk about the border with Belarus, we do not detect such groups in this direction, but along the border with Russia, unfortunately, the enemy is trying to use such groups, especially in Sumy region. Attempts to use them in Chernihiv region were also recorded when they cross into the territory of Ukraine, first of all, of course, in order to locate the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces but also to carry out various attacks, which, unfortunately, target, including civilians. This is in addition to the shelling that the enemy conducts in this area every day," Demchenko said.

He added that since the beginning of August, border guards have recorded about 500 strikes at Ukraine from enemy territory.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on August 1, Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled an attempt by a subversive recon group to cross the border of Ukraine in Chernihiv region.
