Moscow mayor reports "attempted drone attack" on city

Sergey Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, said an unmanned aerial vehicle attempted to attack the Russian capital.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to Sobyanin's Telegram channel.

"Today around 11:00, there was an attempt by a drone to make it to Moscow. It was downed by air defense forces on approach," wrote the mayor.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported the downing of a drone that allegedly tried to attack objects in Moscow region. It was allegedly shot down over the Podolsk district. It is not entirely clear from the context whether it is the same drone to which Sobyanin referred.

Earlier, the press service of Moscow’s Vnukovo airport reported on the temporary closure of air traffic and restrictions on takeoff and landing.

After Russia unleashed a full-scale war against Ukraine, UAVs regularly attack objects across Russian territory.
