Prosecutor General's Office has confirmed data on 10.749 civilians killed and 15.599 injured since the beginning of the full-scale war.

Head of the Department for Combating Crimes Committed in the Context of Armed Conflict of the Prosecutor General's Office Yurii Bielousov said this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, answering the question whether the data available to the UN on the number of killed and injured Ukrainians since the beginning of the full-scale war correlates with the data available to the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrinform reports.

"We have confirmation of 10.749 civilians killed and 15.599 injured. Of this number, 499 were children, and 1.900 were injured. We understand that these figures are just the tip of the iceberg. When we de-occupy our territories, the numbers will increase many times, and possibly tenfold. I think there will be tens of thousands of dead in Mariupol alone," Bielousov said.

According to the official, there will always be a risk of missing people. "The Russians could rebury them, take them away, and we won't find the bodies. Unfortunately, such cases can happen," Bielousov said.

He informed that thanks to Ukraine's partners, the identification system has improved significantly.

"The number of laboratories, the ability to analyze DNA is incomparable to what we had before. Therefore, I hope that at least for the bodies we find, we will be able to identify as many as possible. But there will be those who need to be searched for. Because someone may have been killed and taken to another country, buried in Russia or Belarus," the representative of the Office of the Prosecutor General said.

As reported, the UN recorded 143 killed and 605 injured Ukrainian civilians in July, and the total losses since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, according to the organization, amount to 9.369 killed and 16.646 injured.
