Nayev: Ukrainian troops stop attempt of Russian subversive group to cross border in Chernihiv region

Serhiy Nayev, the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"Last night an attempt to cross the state border of Ukraine by an enemy subversive reconnaissance group was prevented in the Northern sector, within the Chernihiv region," noted Nayev.

According to him, four armed men were spotted by soldiers of the second border guard outpost using thermal imagers. According to the decision of the senior observation post, they opened deadly fire on the enemy, forcing him to retreat.

"At the same time, Armed Forces of Ukraine and border guard detachment reserves were sent to the scene after the alarm signal. Thanks to the skillful actions of the Defense Forces units, the enemy once again suffered losses and failed to achieve its goal," added the Joint Forces Commander.

As reported, earlier the Security Service of Ukraine detained an enemy agent who helped Russia collect intelligence on the Defense Forces in the Chernihiv region, in particular, spying on combat aircraft.
