War update: Ukrainian aircraft launch nine strikes on enemy targets

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this in its morning update on Friday, July 28, Ukrinform reports.

"In the past 24 hours, our defenders destroyed eight enemy Shahed-136 attack UAVs and five tactical reconnaissance UAVs. In the past 24 hours, units of rocket forces and artillery hit a command post, a manpower concentration area, five artillery pieces at firing positions, a fuel depot and an electronic warfare station of the enemy," the Ukrainian military said, adding that over 30 combat clashes took place in the past day.

According to the update, the enemy launched 3 missile strikes and 29 aerial strikes and used MLRS more than 70 times to attack the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas.

"Unfortunately, as a result of Russian terrorist attacks, civilians have been killed and wounded, and port infrastructure in southern Ukraine and residential buildings have been destroyed and damaged. The probability of missile and air strikes being launched across Ukraine remains very high," the General Staff said.

On the Volyn and Polissia axis, the operational situation has not changed significantly.

In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna sector, the enemy carried out mortar and artillery attacks on more than 35 settlements, including Novovasylivka, Stara Huta, Iskryskivshchyna, Volfyne, Bilovody and Pokrovka of the Sumy region and Huriiv Kozachok, Udy, Bochkove, Mala Vovcha and Budarky of the Kharkiv region.

On the Kupiansk axis, the enemy launched an air strike in the Izium district, Kharkiv region. The settlements of Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Zapadne, Kyslivka and Novoosynove in the Kharkiv region came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted an unsuccessful offensive near Nadiia and carried out an air strike near Bilohorivka, Luhansk region. The settlements of Nevske and Bilohorivka of the Luhansk region and Spirne, Berestove, Torske, and Verkhniokamianske of the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut area, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled enemy attacks in areas west and south of Klishchiivka, Donetsk region. The enemy carried out airstrikes near Kurdiumivka, Bila Hora and New York of the Donetsk region. More than ten settlements, including Rozdolivka, Minkivka, Predtechyne, Toretsk, and New York of the Donetsk region, were hit by enemy artillery shelling.

On the Avdiivka axis, under heavy fire from the enemy's aircraft and artillery, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled attacks by Russian troops in the Avdiivka area. More than 15 settlements, including Avdiivka, Lastochkyne, Vodiane, Pervomaiske and Karlivka of the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Marinka sector, Ukraine's defense forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops near Marinka. The enemy shelled more than ten settlements, including Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Marinka, Kurakhivka, Pobieda and Novomykhailivka of the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarske sector, under heavy fire from aircraft and artillery, Ukraine's defense forces liberated the village of Staromaiorske, Donetsk region.

Outside Rivnopil and Makarivka in the Donetsk region, enemy forces made an unsuccessful attempt to regain lost positions. The enemy shelled the settlements of Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar and Blahodatne of the Donetsk region.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson axis, the enemy is concentrating its main efforts on preventing the further advance of Ukrainian troops. The enemy carried out an air strike in the Novoberyslav district of the Kherson region. More than 15 settlements, including Novodarivka, Huliaipole, Charivne, Bilohiria and Kamianske in the Zaporizhzhia region, Nikopol in the Dnipropetrovsk region; Mykhailivka, Zmiivka, Odradokamianka, Lvove, Tokarivka, Antonivka and Rozlyv in the Kherson region, all came under artillery fire. At the same time, Ukraine's defense forces continue to conduct an offensive operation in the Melitopol and Berdiansk sectors and are entrenching themselves on the achieved lines.

Russian occupation forces continue to throw newly mobilized soldiers into battle without prior combat training. In the settlement of Rohove, Luhansk region, about 110 mobilized servicemen from Russia arrived at the training camp of a unit of the Russian occupation forces. When they received military gear and weapons, the Russian command informed them that they would be included in the assault units and sent in the near future to perform combat missions on the contact line.
