Ukrainian ambassador tells how many MiG-29s Ukraine can still receive from Poland

Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland Vasyl Zvarych said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"So far, 10 MiG-29s have been handed over, but it is possible that Poland will hand over the rest - about 20 aircraft of this type that they still have in service. However, this will most likely happen after Poland starts receiving aircraft from Western countries. This process has already begun (Poland received the first FA-50 fighters from South Korea - ed.)," Zvarych said.

He noted that Poland is now among the 11 countries that have declared their readiness to start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s.

"General training within the coalition of states is to begin in August. We are in the process of agreeing with the Polish side on when, how many and how these agreements on training Ukrainian pilots in Poland will be implemented," the Ukrainian diplomat said.

Speaking about the supply of Polish weapons to Ukraine, Zvarych noted that Polish Krab howitzers "have really changed the situation at the front."

"We need as many of these weapons as possible and are very grateful to Poland for receiving them on time and for fulfilling their tasks on the battlefield. We are also grateful for Piorun MANPADS, Rosomak armored personnel carriers, Polish drones, and ammunition of various calibers. We need these weapons badly," the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland emphasized.

Zvarych also said that the terms of the contract between the Ukrainian and Polish parties on the production of ammunition to be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being agreed upon.

As previously reported by representatives of the Polish authorities, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Warsaw has transferred more than $2 billion worth of weapons to Kyiv.
