War update: Heavy fighting in east, enemy trying to stop Ukraine’s advance in south

The Russians focus their main efforts on three directions in the east and try to obstruct the advance of Ukraine’s defense forces in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions.

This is stated in the evening report by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published on Facebook.

"The enemy continues to focus its main efforts on Lyman, Bakhmut, and Maryinka directions, heavy fighting continues. During the day, 18 combat engagements took place. In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, the enemy focuses its main efforts on preventing the advance of our troops. An airstrike was launched in the area of Antonivka in Kherson region.

Artillery was fired at more than 40 settlements, including Novodarivka, Levadne, Huliaypole, Zaliznychne, Huliaypilske, Mala Tokmachka, Novodanylivka, Orikhiv, Novoandriyivka in Zaporizhzhia region; Dudchany, Antonivka, Kherson, Stepanivka, Dniprovske in Kherson region," the General Staff noted.

In Lyman direction, the Russian troops launched airstrikes in the areas of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region; Spirne and Rozdolivka in Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements were hit with artillery, in particular Bilohorivka in Luhansk region; Torske, Dibrova, Verkhniokamyanske, Rozdolivka, Berestove in Donetsk region.

"In Bakhmut direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations in the areas of Bohdanivka and Khromove in Donetsk region. An airstrike was launched near New York in Donetsk region. About 15 settlements, including Chasiv Yar, Kostiantynivka, Klishchiyivka, Bila Hora, Dyliyivka, and Pivdenne in Donetsk region came under enemy artillery fire," the General Staff reports.

In Avdiyivka direction, the enemy carried out unsuccessful offensive operations near Avdiyivka and Pervomaiske with the support of aviation and shelled more than 15 settlements, including Ocheretyne, Keramik, Avdiyivka, Sieverne, Vodiane, Nevelske in Donetsk region.

In Maryinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all Russian attacks in the area of Maryinka. The enemy launched an airstrike near the town. Artillery was fired at about 10 settlements, in particular, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Heorhiyivka and Pobieda in Donetsk region.

In Kupyansk direction, the Russians carried out unsuccessful offensive operations near Novoselivske, Luhansk region; launched an airstrike near Kyslivka in Kharkiv region. Putnykove, Fyholivka, Dvorichna, Masiutivka, Kupyansk, and Kyslivka in Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.

"In Shakhtarske direction, the enemy launched airstrikes near Blahodatne and Zolota Nyva in Donetsk region. The invaders shelled about 15 settlements, in particular, Paraskoviyivka, Blahodatne, Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Shakhtarske in Donetsk region," the General Staff informs.

In Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly, and no signs of the formation of offensive groups have been detected.

In Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the enemy maintains its military presence. Mortars and artillery were fired at more than 10 settlements, including Krasni Lozy in Chernihiv region; Baranivka, Svoboda in Sumy region; Udy, Hatyshche, Ohirtseve, and Dvorichanske in Kharkiv region.

"In general, during the day, the enemy launched eight missile strikes, 34 airstrikes, and 40 MLRS attacks on the positions of our troops and populated settlements. Unfortunately, civilians were killed and wounded, more than 20 civilian residential buildings and an educational complex were damaged," the General Staff sums up.
