MoD: Russians failing to break through Ukrainian defense on eastern front

In the east, the Russian occupation forces try to advance but are unable to break through the defense lines of the Ukrainian troops.

"If for us the main offensive actions take place in several directions in the south, then the enemy determines the east as the main direction of its attack, and its main offensive continues there. Despite the fact that the enemy has to defend itself in the south, they still do not abandon their plans to reach the borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. It can be called an offensive, even a large-scale one, judging by what is happening in Lyman and Kupyansk directions, and the enemy really amasses air assault units there to efficiently break through our defense lines. So far, the enemy has not managed to do this," Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar said during the United News telethon.

She noted that in terms of the ammunition amount used by the enemy there and the casualty rate, it can be compared to the fierce fighting in Bakhmut.

According to the deputy minister, the enemy also attacks Maryinka and Avdiyivka directions, and Ukrainian troops hold the defense.

"The enemy did not gain a single meter of our land there, did not advance, but this is only thanks to the courage and professionalism of our soldiers," said Maliar.

The deputy minister also noted that battles are ongoing in Zaporizhzhia region, where the defense forces advance and the enemy holds the defense. At the same time, there are areas where the situation is the opposite: the enemy advances, and Ukrainian troops defend themselves.

Maliar noted that the Ukrainian defenders are moving forward: "We are actually moving forward gradually, with small steps, but very confidently."
