In Kherson, Dnipro river level dropped less than meter

As of the evening of June 17, the water level in the Dnipro River at the Kherson post reached 0.94 meters.

That's according to the State Emergency Service on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"On the Dnipro River, in the Kherson post, there is a gradual decrease in the water level and it is at the level of 0.94 meters," the message says.

According to the State Emergency Service, as of now, 1,274 houses in six settlements on the right bank of Kherson region remain flooded. On the left bank of the region, temporarily occupied by Russians, 17 settlements are flooded.

It is reported that more than 24,000 tons of water have been pumped out of 82 houses and basements. Since the start of the work, more than 107,000 tons of water have been pumped out of 413 houses and basements, using 68 motorized pumps.

A total of 401 tons of water and over 36,597 kilograms of food and essentials have been delivered to the residents.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of June 6, the Russian army blew up the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, causing large-scale flooding. A number of settlements in the Kherson region were submerged. The flooding also affected the territories of Mykolaiv region.

Kakhovka HPP itself was almost entirely under water by the afternoon of June 6. The plant is beyond repair.
