Almost three thousand people have already been evacuated from the flooded area as a result of the enemy's explosion of the Kakhovka HPP, and the rescue operation is ongoing.

The head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine Natalia Humeniuk said this at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine - Ukrinform.

"Today, almost three thousand people have been evacuated. And we can state that, unfortunately, there are already victims of this tragedy. And most notably, these are not Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, but other areas that have suffered the negative effects of flooding indirectly. That is why we continue to work with the population," said Humeniuk.

According to her, unfortunately, there are many people in the ecological disaster zone who continue to refuse to evacuate, even while waiting out the high water on the roofs and on other premises. "They are trying to wait for the water to subside naturally. But it may take a long time," explained Humeniuk.

She noted that despite everything, rescuers, police and volunteers are trying to convince people to leave dangerous places and move to safer areas.
