Polish general: Ukraine to receive F-16 aircraft in two to three months

Ukraine will receive F-16 fighters in 2-3 months. MiG-29 aircraft provided by NATO countries are enough for Ukraine to launch a counteroffensive.

A Polish expert, former commander of the Polish Army General Waldemar Skrzypczak said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

"In my opinion, in two or three months Ukraine will have F-16 aircraft, as Ukrainian pilots are undoubtedly ready to operate them," Skrzypczak said.

He expressed the opinion that the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16s "has been going on for a long time", as pilot training on this type of aircraft is a long process. According to the expert, Ukraine is at a stage where "Ukrainian pilots are almost ready to use F-16s in combat." Therefore, now it is only a matter of deciding which countries will supply the planes. According to the general, F-16s could be provided by the United States, and F-18s, which have also been discussed recently, are also very good in operation.

Skrzypczak expressed the opinion that Ukraine should not wait for F-16s, but should carry out a counteroffensive operation with the equipment it has already received from the West.

"Ukraine has received MiG-29s and will cope with the first stage of the counteroffensive. Now the first strike should be made," the general emphasized.

The former commander of the Polish Army emphasized that "before the NATO summit, something must happen to show that Ukraine is worthy of trust".

"...It's time to prove that the Ukrainian army, thanks to the significant support of the West, is able to defeat a part of the Russian army in Ukraine. This is the argument that Zelenskyy (President of Ukraine - ed.) must put on the table in front of Stoltenberg in Vilnius on July 11-12. It is very important that the Ukrainian people are also waiting for this," Skrzypczak stated.

As reported, the NATO summit in Vilnius will take place on July 11-12.
