Over 1,450 people evacuated after Kakhovka HPP blast - State Emergency Service

More than 1,450 people have already been evacuated after the Russian forces blew up the Kakhovka HPP.

Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, the spokesman for the State Emergency Service, said this on the air of the nationwide news telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We have already evacuated more than 1,450 people. We also have deployed nine evacuation points, and currently people are still there and receiving psychological support - they are given water and food. We have a total of over 1,450 personnel and over 300 pieces of equipment. In particular, from the State Emergency Service - 772 people, 174 units of equipment and 33 watercraft,” Khorunzhyi said.

According to him, rescuers work in tight coordination with local authorities, the National Police and do everything to evacuate people where it is needed.

As Ukrinform reported, on the night of June 6, the Russian forces blew up the dam of the Kakhovka HPP. Evacuation of people from flooded areas continues.
