During night attack on Ukraine, Russia launches 40 missiles from Caspian Sea - Air Force spox

During a night attack on May 29, 40 enemy air-launched missiles were fired at the territory of Ukraine from strategic aircraft from the Caspian Sea region.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat said this on the air of the telethon "United News", an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"About 40 air-launched missiles were fired last night from strategic aviation aircraft from the Caspian Sea region. Nine aircraft were involved. Ukraine was attacked with Kh-101 and Kh-555 missiles, which are usually fired by airplanes," Ihnat said.

Ihnat emphasized that despite the fact that 100% of the targets were not destroyed, the combat work carried out was quite successful.

"37 missiles out of 40 were eliminated by air defense," added the spokesman.

He noted that the enemy also attacked Ukraine with Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 kamikaze drones.

"29 drones out of 35 were destroyed by our forces and means in different regions," Ihnat emphasized.

The spokesperson for the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that most enemy drones are destroyed in the center of the country on the outskirts of Kyiv region, as "the capital is attacked quite often in such attacks."

In addition, he emphasized that the air defense forces also destroyed one reconnaissance UAV, which the enemy used to track the results of strikes. 

As Ukrinform reported, during a nighttime enemy attack in Odesa, the wreckage of a downed drone fell on port infrastructure.
