Another four Leopard 2 main battle tanks and a batch of M113 armored personnel carriers will soon leave Spain for Ukraine.

That’s according to the Spanish Defense Ministry’s report citing Minister Margarita Robles as saying during the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on Friday, Ukrinform learned.

Robles spoke about the current status of deliveries from Spain, drawing attention, among other things, to the future delivery of four more Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks and a new batch of M113 armored personnel carriers, according to the statement.

It is noted that Robles also emphasized the progress in the training of the Ukrainian military on the territory of Spain, where almost 1,500 recruits have already completed the course.

The top defense official expressed hope that her country will be able to fulfill its annual quota for the training of Ukrainian defenders ahead of schedule.

Earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez vowed to transfer 10 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, six of which have already arrived in the country.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, during a meeting at the Ramstein military base in Germany on Thursday, the member states of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group agreed to find more opportunities to provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems.
