He stated this during a conversation with Ukrainian marines; a relevant video was published on the Head of State's Telegram channel, Ukrinform reports.

“A special day. A special day for all Ukrainian citizens. A day of special courage, resilience, and strength of our Ukrainian Navy warriors. Today I have the honor to announce that a decision has been made to significantly increase the potential of the Ukrainian Navy – to create the Navy Corps,” Zelensky said.

The President assured that the state would do everything to develop an important, strong branch of troops, as well as to provide the Ukrainian infantry with modern weapons and equipment and to create new brigades of the Ukrainian Navy.

“I thank each and every warrior for bringing the most important page of our country closer. This is the page of Ukraine's just victory. Glory to you – all the Navy warriors of Ukraine!” he stressed.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the frontline positions of Ukrainian defenders in Donetsk region, in the Vuhledar-Maryinka defense area, heard the report by the Marine Corps commander and presented state awards to soldiers.

Every year since 2018, Ukraine celebrates Marine Corps Day on May 23.
