The European Union is ready to provide Ukraine with one million artillery rounds.

That’s according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, who spoke at a joint briefing with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in Kyiv, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Every day, Ukraine demonstrates the effectiveness of our defense against Russian aggression. Every downed terrorist missile, every success of our soldiers in repelling Russian assaults is evidence that we can defeat this aggressor," said the Ukrainian head of state.

At the same time, he emphasized the importance of proportionality of Ukraine's capabilities to those of the Russian Federation. "In this context, today I thanked Ursula for the EU readiness to provide Ukraine with the much-needed munitions, one million artillery rounds," added president of Ukraine.

Zelensky informed that during the talks with von der Leyen, the parties discussed, among other things, the pace of procurement and delivery of these rounds as there is already a need for these munitions on the battlefield.

As reported earlier, the Council of the European Union on May 5 approved the allocation of EUR 1 billion within the European Peace Facility for the purchase of ammunition and missiles for Ukraine.
