The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained two Russian agents in Zaporizhzhia who were plotting terrorist attacks against the command of Ukraine's defense forces and the security agency's special forces.

The SBU reported this on its Telegram channel, according to Ukrinform.

"The SBU's counter-intelligence officers neutralized a network of Russian FSB agents following a multi-phase special operation in the Zaporizhzhia region. One of the members of the group was a former service member, and the other was the personal driver of a local high-ranking official," the report reads.

The perpetrators were engaged in preparing terrorist attacks against the command of Ukraine's defense forces and SBU employees stationed in the region.

For this purpose, the Russian agents were collecting hourly information about locations of temporary bases and the routes of movement of Ukrainian defenders.

The culprits sent the received information to Russia's FSB through a closed Telegram chat.

To prepare for terrorist attacks, Russian agents received an advance payment of $4,000 from their FSB supervisors.

The SBU's counter-intelligence officers promptly exposed and detained the perpetrators.

According to the investigation, the leader of the agent group was a resident of Zaporizhzhia, a former serviceman.

Both detainees were declared suspects under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They were remanded in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
