Russia should be forced to make 'Crimean gesture of goodwill' – Ukraine intelligence

Russia should be forced to make a "Crimean gesture of goodwill," according to Andrii Cherniak, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense.

He told this to the ArmiyaInform news site, Ukrinform reports, citing the agency's website.

"Of course, the enemy must be cut off from Crimea - to make sure that Russia could not use the temporarily occupied peninsula for military purposes and, finally, could make the so-called 'Crimean gesture of goodwill'," Cherniak said.

According to him, Ukraine continues to take appropriate measures in the Crimea area, which is evidenced, in particular, by recent events on the peninsula.

"Multi-kilometer-long traffic jams on the illegally erected bridge from Kerch to Russia are the right reaction. The Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense strongly recommends leaving occupied Crimea while such an option is still available," he said.

On April 29, a fire broke out at an oil depot in temporarily occupied Sevastopol due to an alleged drone strike.
