Russian army hits power generation facility in Donetsk region

Due to the massive shelling in Donetsk region, one of the power generation facilities was hit.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy, Ukrinform reports.

"During the massive shelling that Russia carried out on April 28, a hit was recorded at one of the electricity generation facilities in the Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an artillery attack, which partially damaged the equipment. The employees of this facility were not injured during the shelling," the statement said.

It is noted that other generation facilities of Ukraine were not damaged during the shelling on April 28. The united energy system is operating stably, with a power surplus.

As reported, starting from October 10, 2022, the terrorist state has been conducting massive missile and drone strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure facilities. During this period, 24 generation facilities (thermal power plants, combined heat and power plants, hydroelectric and pumped storage plants), about half of the transmission system substations, and 43% of the trunk power grids were hit. Most of the facilities were shot several times.

According to a World Bank study, as of February 2023, the damage to Ukraine's power system amounted to $11 billion.
