Death toll in missile strike on Uman rises to 14

Rescuers have already removed the bodies of 14 victims from the rubble of the section of an apartment block destroyed by a Russian missile in Uman.

"Uman: the bodies of two more people have just been removed from the rubble. As of now, 14 people were killed in a strike on an apartment block," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

As Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko noted earlier, a headquarters and tents have been put at the scene, where citizens from neighboring houses and from the house that suffered the most can wait until the local authorities provide them with shelters.

"At the moment, the local government has provided everyone with food. There is also a hotline that can be contacted by relatives and friends of our citizens who lived in this and other houses affected in this area," the Ministry's press service quotes the minister as saying.

Earlier, Klymenko reported that, according to preliminary data, 109 people lived in the destroyed section. Rescuers retrieved the bodies of ten victims. Seventeen people were rescued, including three children. Nine survivors are receiving medical assistance.

As reported, the Russians fired 23 cruise missiles at Ukraine last night, 21 of which were destroyed by the air defense units. Ukraine was also attacked from the air by two UAVs – they were downed in Kyiv region.

In Cherkasy region, the Russians attacked Uman town. About 10 apartment blocks were damaged.
