Russia puts Ukrainian Navy Commander Neizhpapa on wanted list

Russia has put Ukrainian Navy Commander Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa on the wanted list in the case of an alleged "attempted murder of a Russian law enforcement officer."

"Oleksiy Leonidovych Neizhpapa was born on October 9, 1975, in Sevastopol. He is wanted under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the Russian Interior Ministry's wanted database said on Thursday.

The law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation informed the state news agency that the admiral is charged in absentia under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ["Attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer"]. This article provides for a sentence of up to life imprisonment.

According to the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation, the investigation has filed a petition for the arrest of the Ukrainian Navy Commander in absentia, and the relevant materials have already been submitted to the Khamovnitsky District Court of Moscow.

Neizhpapa has been serving in the Ukrainian Navy since 1997. In April 2020, he was appointed deputy commander of the Navy, and in 2021 he became the head of the Ukrainian Navy.

As Ukrinform reported, the day before, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, said that only if Ukraine returns its territories as of 1991, can security in the Azov-Black Sea region be restored.
