World’s “moral duty” to hold Russian leaders accountable for abduction of Ukrainian children - U.S. Embassy

The international community has a moral obligation to hold Russian leaders accountable for the abduction of Ukrainian children.

This is stated in a video address posted by the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine on Twitter, Ukrinform reports.

"Russia has separated thousands of Ukraine’s children from their families, taking them to ‘re-education’ camps as part of an outrageous effort to erase Ukraine's future. Those responsible for stealing Ukrainian children from their parents must be held to account," American diplomats said.

“The world has a moral duty to hold Russian leaders accountable,” the statement concludes.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on March 17, the Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova. Both are suspected of war crimes – deportation and illegal transfer of the population, in particular children, from the occupied territory of Ukraine.
